I met young Josh last year. He’s one of the toughest, most amazing kids I’ve ever met.
At the time he was very sick and in hospital receiving treatment for a very rare condition called aplastic anaemia, which means he couldn’t produce any of his own blood. He was completely dependent on blood transfusions to survive.
He’s a big St George Illawarra Dragons fan so that day I made him a promise to take him to a game against the Cronulla Sharks when he felt a bit better. We went to that game in August last year.
Nearly a year later, I checked in with him and his grandad Brian to see how he was getting on and staying COVIDSafe. Beyond thrilled to hear Josh is doing really well and finally started making blood a few months ago. What a champion.
