Teachers and school staff in Australia reported high levels of stress and burnout linked to heavy workloads and rising expectations to manage diverse emotional and learning needs.
The findings suggest that without better training, time, and structural support from education systems, teachers may struggle to help students effectively and may even consider leaving the profession. Supporting both teacher wellbeing and clearer mental health strategies in schools is key to ensuring all students get the help they need.
