This study explores how telepresence robots can support children with chronic illnesses who are unable to attend school in person. Following students over six months, the research found that using a telepresence robot helped maintain their sense of belonging and overall quality of life, rather than allowing these to decline during long absences.

The findings suggest that while the technology plays an important stabilising role by helping students stay socially connected and engaged with school. This is especially important for adolescents. The study highlights telepresence as a valuable tool in supporting inclusion and continuity of education for students with ongoing health conditions.
