Here’s some useful evidence when thinking about teaching students in purely online contexts – Ferdig’s 2023 study examines the performance of K-12 students with a hospital-homebound designation in online classes compared to their non-hospital homebound peers. It reveals that academic performance of hospital-homebound students is on par with their counterparts, but they are more likely to withdraw from courses. However, the likelihood of withdrawal decreases when these students are enrolled in multiple classes or classes with more students.
