Live & Learn Podcast: Episode 12, Dainere’s Rainbow

Welcome to Live & Learn Episode 12. This week, Megan Gilmour speaks with Jarrett Anthoney, co-founder of Dainere’s Rainbow, a charity honouring his sister by raising awareness and funds for childhood brain cancer. Jarrett discusses the challenges faced by children and families, from delayed diagnoses to school disruptions and emotional isolation, while advocating for better support networks, increased research funding, and fostering normalcy through school connections.

Childhood brain cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death in children, with a young life lost every 11 days. Dainere Monique Anthoney tragically passed away at 15 years old in 2013. Dainere’s Rainbow, created in her memory and in partnership with the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, is dedicated to raising vital funds and awareness to improve research outcomes, support families, and ensure every child diagnosed with brain cancer in Australia feels valued and strengthened.
