MissingSchool is working to add resources and research that will help families, educators and health practitioners to better support seriously sick kids in keeping connected to their school communities during absence.
We are currently looking at the following practical ways to assist:
- running Keeping Seriously Sick Kids Connected events in Canberra, ACT and in the other states and territory. These will bring together families, educators and health practitioners to explore the best ways to keep seriously sick kids connected to their schools. They will also provide opportunities to build an evidence picture, gather information and data, and explore current barriers to be overcome in achieving better connection.
- developing a social education campaign using a video story board, run through social media platforms, to inform people of the impacts of disconnection and ways that we can all help to support seriously sick kids to stay connected to their school communities.
- collaboration with organisations in the USA who are running successful programs with a common objective, so that we can adopt and replicate the best measures here in Australia.
MissingSchool has applied for grants from a variety of organisations. We are finding success! See our blog and in the media.
